Us photographers, we feed on each other. We are visual animals always looking for that new, edgy image. Deconstructing every photograph that crosses our “desk”. Pictures become depth of field, shutter speed, focal length, golden ratio and rule of thirds, f-stops, lighting size and direction, layes and masks and also expression, “decisive moments” and sometimes negative space.

I was recently introduced to the work of Adrian Sommeling. His images are artistic pieces, but overall, his workflow is liberating. After this mindshift, I cannot look at anything without thinking, “How would this work as a background?”.
